Class Procedures/Syllabus
This year, in 7th grade, we will study World History from medieval to modern times. Major topics included are: Ancient Rome, Ancient Islam, Medieval Africa, Medieval China, Japan, Medieval Europe, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Americas and Age of Exploration, and the Enlightenment. We will also study different aspects of geography and explore other parts of our world.
Class Rules:
- Show respect for your teacher, your classmates, your classroom, and yourself
- Be on time
- Be prepared every day with your binder and other supplies, including homework
- Use appropriate language
- Only drink water during class
- Follow the school’s technology policy
We will follow the BIG 3 - Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Positive - in Room 1! Ms. Hollander will enforce all school set policies and discipline procedures.
Grading Scale:
A= 100%-89.5%
B= 89.49%-79.5%
C= 79.49%-69.5%
D= 69.49%-54.5%
F= 54.49%-0%
Course grades will be earned through a combination of classwork, homework, tests & quizzes, and participation.
Homework Policy:
In this class, most homework will be assigned several times a week, as an extension and reinforcement of classroom learning. Since time keeps marching on in history, it’s important for students to come to class with finished homework, ready to participate in class discussion.
Late Work Policy:
Small, daily homework assignments will be allowed to be submitted late but will receive half credit only.
Larger assignments, such as projects or papers, will be accepted late up to one week after the due date, with a loss of 10% each day.
Lunch Bunch Tickets:
Students who participate in Lunch Bunch can submit their tickets at the end of each trimester, to redeem points and boost their overall grade by up to one full grade.
