3/16 - STUDENTS ABSENT 3/16-3/18 - Please complete online at TCI, Lesson 18, Sections 1-3.
3/10 - If you are the group member responsible for getting your poster board, remember it needs to be brought to class tomorrow!
2/24 - Reminder that your DBQ Essay is due this week! Your evidence organizer sheet will also be due when you turn in your essay. Your essay must be typed and PRINTED before class on Thursday, or it will be late.
2/20 - Lewis and Clark DBQ Essay due on Thursday, 2/27.
2/12 - Lesson 15, Section 1 questions due on Thursday.
2/4 - Your "Trail Where They Cried" letter to the editor is due on Thursday.
2/3 - Your Primary Source questions from Lesson 14 are due tomorrow, if you did not finish them in class. Remember, you only need to answer the questions about the first two treaties, not the third.
1/24 - Tecumseh reading questions due on Monday - remember, only the first 3 were assigned.

11/7 - You need to complete Lesson 8, Sections 8 & 9 before class discussion tomorrow. Remember also to finish any gaps in your Convention Packet before I collect it tomorrow!

Class Procedures/Syllabus
This year, in 8th grade, we will study the history of the United States from its discovery to America at the turn of the 20th Century. Major events and topics include: Early America, American Colonies, Independence, the Constitution, the Federalists, the Jefferson Era, Rise of Industry, the South, Westward Expansion, the Civil War, Reconstruction, the West, New Industry, and Turn of the Century. We will also study different aspects of geography and explore other parts of our world.
Class Rules:
We will follow the BIG 3 - Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Positive - in Room 1! Ms. Hollander will enforce all school set policies and discipline procedures.
Grading Scale:
A= 100%-89.5%
B= 89.49%-79.5%
C= 79.49%-69.5%
D= 69.49%-54.5%
F= 54.49%-0%
Course grades will be earned through a combination of classwork, homework, tests & quizzes, and participation.
Homework Policy:
In this class, most homework will be assigned several times a week, as an extension and reinforcement of classroom learning. There will also be projects and other writing assignments given periodically throughout the year. Since time keeps marching on in history, it’s important for students to come to class with finished homework, ready to participate in class discussion.
Late Work Policy:
Small, daily homework assignments will be allowed to be submitted late but will receive half credit only.
Larger assignments, such as projects or papers, will be accepted late up to one week after the due date, with a loss of 10% each day.
Lunch Bunch Tickets:
Students who participate in Lunch Bunch can submit their tickets at the end of each trimester to redeem points and boost their overall grade by up to one full letter grade.
